I most definitely fell in love with Silas Moore. It’s true what they say about the Silas Virus. You will catch it no matter what and you just can’t shake it. Not that you would actually want to. You can feel all the emotion, frustration, anger, fear, and passion radiating from him. I felt so bad for him, even I wanted to help pull him out of this funk he’s in. The life he’s lived is not easy at all. He dealt with everything all on his own at such a young age. And because of that, he wanted to wipe everything out from his past and start living a new life in college with his football scholarship. It’s the only thing he can hold on to to survive this new life. Though you can’t really just run away from your past, can you? It will always, always catch up to you. And for Silas, it was only a matter of time. And he can feel it coming.
Prim and proper Dylan Brenner has always known what she wanted in life. A successful career, a wonderful boyfriend, and a perfect image for everybody to see. It was all laid out for her. After all, she was brought up by her uptight parents. But a night getting arrested from a protest blows everything up into smithereens. She started thinking about why she ended up there and suddenly she’s doubting everything she’s been doing her entire life. It was like living someone else’s life and eventually she felt like she’s being suffocated by all that she believed in. When she meets Silas, she begins to see how life is really supposed to be.
Sometimes, it actually takes two broken people to fix one another. They understand
each other so well, they almost have the same thoughts just disguised in different fronts they allow others to see. They realize how they could complement and help each other. Everyone has issues and it all boils down on how you deal with them. We’ve all been through wanting to fit in even if we know well enough that it’s not really who we are at all. But sometimes, it’s not that easy to do especially when we’re alone. Or sometimes, we don’t even see that we’re living a life just to impress other people and be who they want us to be. Sometimes, it takes that special person to be our support system and help us figure things out. All we have to do is find that strength to let that person in.
This book is very inspiring, giving you a glimpse on how you have to look at the brighter side of things, even when you think everything is already falling apart. That you have to continue to hope because one day, your time will eventually come. All Broke Down is not just about a hot football player and a love story that will leave you swooning. It’s also about how you see life as a whole. I loved the bond that formed between Silas and Dylan. It was clearly shown in the book and I was very much thrilled watching all of it bloom. Their inside jokes were also one of the things I enjoyed most. You will feel how passionate Silas is in everything. His football career, his friends and the love of his life. I really do admire him on that. I can’t say I was a fan of the ending though. It felt too abrupt for me. Like I needed more, like an epilogue or something. Although open-ended endings are not all that bad, I guess I was just frustrated because I still wanted more of Silas and Dylan. See? That’s the Silas Virus’s fault right there. You will never get enough. ~ Renery, 4.5 stars
